Up~Chuckies is very pleased to announce a new line of bibs. We have searched high and low and finally found bibs that we really like: great quality, great colors, great size and best of all – affordable!

Bibs - the colors are much more yummy than pictured here!

We don’t have to sew them from scratch so the price will be $12.00! Yay! The new bibs are 100% cotton interlock and measure about 14″ x 9.5″. As always, personalization is free and will include not only the baby’s name but a cute little design. You will have lots to choose from and they will, of course, coordinate with our Up~Chuckies. We are scrambling to get them designed and on the website but in the meantime, if you are interested in a new bib, just send us a note.

In other exciting news, we are pleased to offer Gift Certificates for Chuckie Bucks! Just in case you can’t decide which amazingly cute Up~Chuckie you want to give as a gift, you can let the recipient decide!

Geez. So, I mentioned we had a water leak back in November. We are at week 13 and the repairs are STILL being made! We found a great contractor that turned out to be not-so-reliable so we had to fire him 2 weeks ago. He did all the hard stuff: new flooring on the first floor, new flooring in the master bath, patching drywall, etc. We are now taking up where he left off meaning all of the molding and painting, etc. It’s not really all that fun and it just sets me back even further with Up~Chuckies! UGH!!! So many ideas, so little time! I am chomping at the bit to get this house stuff done so I can get back to my beloved Up~Chuckies. We are still fulfilling orders but all of our new items are just waiting in the studio, calling me softly in the middle of the night! My husband and I were able to create a new design with a firefighter theme (finally, after many requests!) and again, it’s waiting patiently to be ‘officially’ sewn out and photographed with all the rest. It’s cute… Here is a peek at the artwork:

Lil Squirt

I made a few modifications when he became an embroidery but he’s pretty snazzy, no? He has a firetruck friend too… soon.

That’s all for now. HOPEFULLY we will be back shortly with our new line. Thanks for reading!

When it rains…

Well, we were cruising right along with our new designs and getting really excited about them when we had a major leak in the house. Ugh. Water leaked from the second floor bathroom all the way to the basement where we create Up~Chuckies. The walls were soaked, the rug was soaked, everything was soaked. Our house is still ripped apart. Luckily, none of our Up~Chuckie equipment or stock or raw materials were damaged. It could have been much worse. Having said that, our debut has been bumped back a bit! In the meantime, we finally finished the LSU Up~Chuckie. The flannel is a nice purple – the photo doesn’t do it justice!

Hopefully soon I’ll be able to report that we have flooring and walls repaired and our brand new line ready for you!

Sneak Peek

We are still working away on our changes to Up~Chuckies Burp Cloths but I have one set finished and thought I’d post a sneak peek. The set consists of two diaper burp cloths with two different yet coordinating designs & ribbons. Hope you like the direction!

This is a pretty bad photo but you get the idea, right?!

More soon!

Marley the Owl

I love owls. I have always loved owls. When I saw the super cute owl costume in Pottery Barn Kids, I was psyched! Until I saw the price. Yeah. So, I decided to make Marley an owl costume. How hard could it possibly be, right? Gulp. My mom helped me figure it all out. I can sew all day long (and often do!) but I’ve never done 3D things like sew a beak on a hood, etc. I don’t do pattern making or any of that so I just sort of dove in and worked out the problems as they came up! Trial and error is all I can say. I used fleece & felt and lined the ‘wings’ with flannel. I’ve been sneaking it in while Marley naps & Up~Chuckies embroider away and I FINALLY finished it. I was sure she wasn’t going to try it on… but she did! It definitely has that ‘homemade’ look!  Here is the result:

I don’t think I’m Project Runway bound but it will do! Now for my costume… ugh.

Yikes!

I am so bad at blogs and FaceBook! I have a very small window when I can work and that depends completely on my 17 month old and her nap. In that short time, I am usually sewing like the wind but I will try to be better about keeping in touch.

Big doings around here! We are currently re-vamping Up~Chuckies and it’s really exciting.  Since we began our little business, we have been pairing a super high quality diaper burp cloth with a flannel burp cloth but NO MORE!!! Well, soon anyway. We are going to two diaper burp cloths. Both cloths will have the double ribbon and an adorable embroidered design. The burps will still be personalized and will still come in our awesome personalized gift box. I hope y’all don’t mind! We did a survey and found that most customers use the diaper cloth more than the flannel cloth so in an effort to be more helpful to moms, we are making the change. I am, as I type, sampling the new designs. I don’t have a ‘release date’ yet but it will be soon. I’m waiting on my very busy husband to design a couple so… yeah. Waiting. As we get going, I’ll post some sneak peaks before the big debut.

We are also looking at adding some onesies and toddler shirts and FINALLY coming up with a great solution to the receiving blanket conundrum.

In the meantime, here are our two most recent designs: Well Bred and Little Buckaroo.

Happy Mother’s Day! I just wanted to take a moment and mention a great company I just discovered. They are called Stubby Pencil Studios and specialize in eco-friendly art supplies, etc for kids. I ordered several boxes of soy crayons as party favors for my daughter’s birthday party and they included a postcard and a color-yourself card… just great packaging and great products. Check them out!

Well, with Spring comes new beginnings so we here at Up~Chuckies headquarters decided to start a new blog. And perhaps update it more often! To begin, we would like to announce a new color to our flannel collection: Rocket Blue!

So, we will be updating some of our Up~Chuckie sets and will give you a peek as they are ready. The first to be updated is Speedy Spit Crew. We think he looks spiffy in the new color!

We are working away on new and exciting products that we can’t wait to share with you… as soon as a certain little Chuckie Chum (my daughter) gets over her ear infection & icky cold. Poor kid!
That’s all for now!
